2. Cooling & Liquefaction – The compressed air is cooled to cryogenic temperatures (below -185°C) using heat exchangers, turning it into a liquid state.
3. Fractional Distillation – The liquefied air is fed into a distillation column, where components are separated based on their different boiling points:
Nitrogen (boiling point: -196°C) rises as a gas.
Oxygen (boiling point: -183°C) is collected as a liquid.
Argon (boiling point: -186°C) is extracted as a secondary product.
4. Product Storage & Distribution – The separated gases are stored in liquid or gaseous form for industrial use.
